What I’ve Learned From Then Until Now

What I’ve Learned From Then Until Now

When I first opened Iris Dahlia Apothecary in August 2024, I had no idea how much growth, change, and learning the next several months would bring. What started as a small dream has blossomed into something that feels bigger, brighter, and more meaningful every day — and the journey has been full of lessons.

One of the first major changes was visual: my logo has undergone a few “glow-ups” as I honed in on the look and feel I wanted for my brand. Finding the right aesthetic — from cohesive product labels to a more unified brand image — was a journey in itself. It took time (and lots of trial and error), but every tweak brought me closer to something that finally feels like home for Iris Dahlia Apothecary.

Behind the scenes, my product formulations have also evolved. Researching, refining, and reworking recipes has become a true labor of love. I’m constantly learning — about ingredients, about skin science, and about how even small changes can make a big difference in how a product feels and performs. (Hello, perfectionist tendencies!)

Another huge transformation has been personal: anyone who knows me knows I’m a total hermit and introvert. When I first considered attending in-person market events, I was equal parts excited and terrified. But stepping outside my comfort zone has been one of the best decisions I’ve made. Not only have I grown in my confidence speaking with customers face-to-face, but I’ve also met some truly amazing fellow vendors — many of whom I now consider friends.

If I’m being honest, my imposter syndrome has probably never been higher. I constantly worry: Is my research thorough enough? Are my products really helping people? Am I doing enough? But what quiets that doubt more than anything is the feedback I receive. Hearing from customers that my products have helped their skincare concerns, boosted their confidence, or added a little magic to their self-care routines — that’s what keeps me going.

I still have so much to learn, and I know Iris Dahlia Apothecary will continue to grow and evolve. But looking back from where I started to where I am now, I’m proud — and deeply grateful. Thank you to everyone who has supported this journey so far. I can’t wait to see what the future holds. ✨
